Keeping Mississippi's roads litter-free is a community effort.

In support of this vision, MDOT works with local communities to help reduce litter on roadways.

MDOT partners with local county sheriff’s departments to use inmate labor to remove litter from state-maintained right-of-ways.

Civic groups and individuals can get involved in MDOT’s litter prevention efforts by adopting a section of state-maintained highway and making a commitment to keeping it clean and litter-free.

This beautification program was developed by MDOT to enhance community appearance by partnering with municipalities and county governments.
